2016 Edition: Call For Papers!
1/06/2016
The Journal of Political Affairs is thrilled to announce a call for submissions for its upcoming edition.
The JPA seeks to highlight the works of Concordia's Political Science undergraduate students. This means that papers can be submitted in all subfield of political science, such as political theory, public policy, international relations, Canadian/Quebec politics, Comparative politics, and international political economy. Papers from other departments will also be considered - provided they touch on political issues or scholarship.
Submission guidelines:
- Papers can range from 4 to 20 pages in length, double-spaced.
- Can be written in English or French.
- Chicago citation style and proper sources.
- Ensure your paper has a title.
- Papers submitted must have been written for 300 or higher level courses.
- Submissions from introductory courses and 200-level classes will only be considered if accompanied by a professor’s recommendation (a forwarded email will do).
- You must be a Concordia undergraduate student, or one that has graduated this year (ie. we will accept submissions from people who graduated in Spring 2016, as long as the paper was written for a Concordia course/event).
- Limit of 2 entries per person.
How to Submit:
- E-mail your draft in .doc or .docx format to [email protected].
- Include with complete contact information, student ID, course name/number for which it was written.
- If submitting from another department, please include a brief (1 paragraph) of why you think the paper is relevant to the JPA.
Evaluation:
Submissions will be evaluated with a blind-review method that uses criteria in five categories:
(1) strength of thesis and argument;
(2) quality of methodology, analysis and/or evidence;
(3) clarity and grace of style;
(4) novelty of ideas or presentation;
(5) mechanics, such as grammar, punctuation and spelling.
Upon receipt, all submissions will be stripped of the author's information. They will then be reviewed by a minimum of two editors. After consultation with the rest of the editorial board, the articles that most pertain to the aforementioned categories will be selected to proceed with the editing process. If your article is selected to advance to the first revision stage, a member of the editorial team will contact you. We will not contact those whose papers are not selected.
